Progress not perfection...
Moo Deng Autumn has arrived, fashion month so far, video clip of the week
🧠 #onmymind
Finally, autumn has arrived and with each year that passes it becomes even more clear that it’s the superior season. The days are still warm but with that morning chill and the sun disappearing more and more with each day.
Since I’m a chronically online person this is the perfect segue to just talk about Moo Deng, the pygmy hippo at the Thailand Zoo that has captured the entire worlds heart. The only reason to check Twitter now is for constant Moo Deng updates. She’s becoming a meme at the fastest rate and I just love her. I would die for Moo Deng.

In other news I’m having a creative burst at the moment. For the past 5ish years I’ve wanted to create a sketchbook in order to organize some of my photography into books that I hope to publish. I’ve been going back to my old form by making collages from old magazines I clipped. Here is one I’ve started just for fun and to get back in the swing of things.
next for me is getting small prints of my photography for my workbooks…

Episode 189: Hey, ladies, wanna see my spirit stick? | Bring It On (2000)
I'm ashamed to say that this is my first watch of Bring it On. The upside to this is that I loved it and I'm pissed I didn't see it the first go round. I remember everyone talking about it when I was in high school but because I didn't have cheerleaders at any of my schools, the concept of a cheer movie wasn't my bag.
This prompted me to create yet another list on Letterboxd categorizing movies I wish I'd seen earlier. Me and Mikey are chatting this comedy classic and take another opportunity to talk about why Kirsten Dunst's filmography CAN'T be beat. The range! We get into the hilarious quotes, I have a rant on this bold & vivid ath-leisure, and talk about how this story was better than I thought for a film in 2000.
Off-topic rants include: our Marvel gripes, Where are the comedies, Hollywood?, the Now! music compilation

🌼 Back Track 022: It's us they don't understand. | Daisies (1966)
I'm so glad that a film still from Tumblr over 10 years ago brought me to this film. What sprouted as a possible fashion editorial, ended up being one of the most original and thought provoking films I've seen in quite a while.
Daisies from 1966 is a wild ride of surrealism, freedom, and feminism by Vera Chytilová. I can see how so many film makers are inspired by this experimental take on philosophy and existence through pleasure and all encompassing rebellion.
I talk about why I have so many words but not enough about how brilliant this all was, the incredible fashion and color theory, and film techniques I was drooling over.

🐆 Deep Cut: He’s blood. He’s in till he proves he isn’t. | Animal Kingdom: Pilot (2016)
FINALLY. I can talk about one of my comfort tv shows. Yes, Animal Kingdom from 2016. I'm hoping that you either have never heard of it or I can convince you to watch it again by this very episode.
This was a gem of a find when I was watching it every week in 2016. I originally was pulled in from the Scott Speedman and Shawn Hatosy casting and this whole series fires on all cylinders immediately. I'm giving a dip into the world of Smurf and the Cody family and their inner dealings which I can only describe as Point Break meets Breaking Bad.
The whole series is streaming on Amazon Prime.

Yes, a fashion week (month) episode is coming to the podcast soon. We are in the beginning of the Paris shows now, here is a sampling of the collections I’ve enjoyed so far.

This clip is pretty self explanatory. I tried to watch this years VMAs and to say it was boring and lackluster is an understatement. Over the years I’ve learned that we just need to revel in past culture moments we have on film since that time and spirit just can’t be recaptured.
